Administrative Team

CHRISTINE, BS, Practice Manager; awindowtowellness@outlook.com

I have worked in the field of mental and behavioral health since early 2006, starting as a receptionist then working and learning my way through the various positions from scheduling, insurance specialist, credentialing specialist, billing specialist; ultimately, with the goal to achieve a position in practice management.

Given my attention to detail and my expertise from extensive experience, I have been fortunate to share my knowledge with others and have helped establish and grow multiple group and individual practices. It was an honor to be asked to join the journey of A Window to Wellness from its inception because I believe wholeheartedly in the mission we came together to provide to our community.

I am certified to conduct the State of Delaware Co-Parenting Course required by the Family Courts for Divorcing & Separating parents, Healing Hearts, eventually to be held in our office(s); schedules to be posted at a later date, once final approval is granted. I am also a certified notary, a service that can be provided separately. For these needs, contact me at the office for more detail.

Contact me with concerns for all practice needs, including but not limited to, scheduling, credentialing, insurance and records.

As a therapist and licensed clinical social worker, I am passionate about helping others to grow and learn from the challenges that life presents. I pride myself in providing a safe space where my clients can find a supportive relationship that allows them to talk openly to address their fears, anxieties, and/or confusions, and to ultimately to find a sense of hope, empowerment, strength, and inner-harmony. Within the therapeutic alliance, my clients find their voices, and a level of empowerment that helps develop skills in self-advocacy and in battling self- and social stigma, which they can utilize for the rest of their life. My strengths include being a compassionate, hopeful, open-minded, and creative.

I enjoy working with diverse individuals, particularly with youth and young adults and their families of choice. I am adept with issues related to multiculturalism, such as in working with those that identify immigrants or children of immigrants, as LGBTQ+, and anyone that may have experienced a sense of living in the margins. While I am particularly skilled in working with teenagers and adolescents, I have practice working with adults who live with serious mental illness, children, and parents, and have had a variety of Latino clients, as I am bilingual in English and Spanish.

While I have been in the field of mental health for 12 years, 5 of them as a therapist, I think of clients as partners instead of recipients of care, and I exercise humility in knowing that I am not the only expert in the room. The conceptual frameworks from which I operate vary according to the needs of my clients, and include cognitive behavioral and psycho-dynamic approaches. I have received my certifications in Global Social Work at the Master’s Level, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and am pursuing a general certificate of continuing education in treating Trauma from Widener University.  Additionally, I am certified to administer the Structured Interview for Psychosis Risk Syndromes (SIPS) and have been trained in CBTp (for psychosis) and would like to pursue my certification in this practice as well.

I believe that it is often in the times that we are distracted from the mental and emotional obstacles in our way that our bodies have the innate ability to create the chemistry that facilitates our finding solutions. I invite you to join me on a different path to realizing your healthiest self through walking and talking our way to a new perspective on your challenges. We will work together to reveal the answers that promote insight, clarity and forward motion toward your goals while developing the skills to carry on beyond our sessions.

Anyone (youth and adult) who is interested in change and is prepared to include physical movement as an integral component of treatment are my ideal clients.  I work from a strengths perspective and find that collaboration is essential for a therapeutic partnership to result in attaining your goals.  Each of us must share the faith that growth is within reach and that forward progress is inevitable given our work together.  When you are ready, the possibilities are endless!

My objectives for treatment include:

  • The appreciation of how physical movement often leads to the opportunity for emotional growth and new perspectives;

  • Improved understanding and coping with mood and anxiety disorders;

  • Development of the skills necessary to increase identity development and be confident throughout life's transitions;

  • Recognizing environmental influences and determining how to manipulate them to derive greater personal growth;

  • Consideration, based on individual circumstances, of whether medication management is an option that could improve treatment outcomes.

I received my BA in Psychology from the University of Akron (Akron, Ohio) and my Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Together, we can identify what's going wrong and where we can make changes to improve your happiness, relationships, and overall well-being.

I have a warm, down to earth logical approach with helping clients meet their goals. I strongly believe in learning a client's perspective for issues brought to therapy. I utilize a person-centered approach in efforts to motivate and empower clients in the therapeutic process. I incorporate various forms of therapy such as cognitive behavioral, strengths-based, solution-focused modalities with a sense of humor. I have a strong intuition and can assist clients to meet their treatment goals and improve their quality of life.

I work with children, adolescents, families, adults and couples. My specialties include but are not limited to family communication, parenting, child and adolescent behavior, depression and anxiety. I've found that the most crucial part of therapy is establishing a comfortable, collaborative therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a safe, non judgmental environment to explore and gain insight into all of life's misfortunes and hang-ups, and take action towards fulfilling your goals and dreams. You're desire for an improved life has lead you this far, and I understand that seeking help isn't always an easy or comfortable thing. My ideal client would have the ability to commit to the understanding that each individual is responsible for their own well-being and sense of self. This would involves willingness to take the reigns back on issues that may have plagued their lives for years. I would be honored to facilitate this process of self discovery and healing in order to assist them in their journey of recovery.

My approach is holistic, which may encompass many different methods of both conventional and alternative therapies, but the overall theme is that the person in treatment will ultimately build a better, more balanced sense of self while coming to love who they are in the process. The four main elements of self are explored: Mind, Body, Spirit and Environment.

In order to heal, one must explore the cause or mindset that triggered the problem. Toxic and negative thoughts can be eradicated and replaced with positive ones. Also, i believe each person has the strength and courage to find meaning and purpose in their life, focusing on their individual solutions, rather than their problems.

Every person is entitled to a feeling of acceptance and every person deserves to feel comfortable and confident in their skin. It is my belief that becoming comfortable with yourself is an essential process in order to interact comfortably and confidently within the world. Throughout counseling, I work with clients to develop an understanding and acceptance of oneself and accomplish their treatment goals using a blended approach of person-centered, Adlerian, cognitive-behavioral, and motivational.

I am a Licensed Profession Counselor of Mental Health (LPCMH) and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in the state of Delaware. I have also obtain certification as a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP).  I am passionate in my work with individuals who are often times stigmatized by their criminal background, substance use, mental health diagnosis, or sexuality. I specialize in reintegration to society post-incarceration, recovery from substance use/dependence, mental wellness, mental illness, and LGBTQ+ issues. I welcome clients who may consider themselves to be different or do not conform to what society has deemed as "normal." I have personally chosen self expression in the form of tattoos, piercings, and occasionally, brightly colored hair. I do not believe that a person's abilities, achievements, or potential can be determined by their outward appearance and I carry that philosophy through in my practice. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wesley College and my Master of Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore.
