Therapy Method(s): Telehealth & In-Person

Tricia Friend, LPCMH

Schedule: Tuesday through Thursday

Currently OPEN to New Clients; Scheduling 1-3 weeks from receipt of intake requirements

Sees ages 18 and up

My ideal client would have the ability to commit to the understanding that each individual is responsible for their own well-being and sense of self. This would involve a willingness to take the reigns back on issues that may have plagued their lives for years. I would be honored to facilitate this process of self-discovery and healing in order to assist them in their journey of recovery.

My approach is holistic, which may encompass many different methods of both conventional and alternative therapies, but the overall theme is that the person in treatment will ultimately build a better, more balanced sense of self while coming to love who they are in the process. The four main elements of the self are explored: Mind, Body, Spirit, and Environment.

In order to heal, one must explore the cause or mindset that triggered the problem. Toxic and negative thoughts can be eradicated and replaced with positive ones. Also, I believe each person has the strength and courage to find meaning and purpose in their lives, focusing on their individual solutions, rather than their problems.

Shanna Staples, LPCMH, CAADC

Schedule: Monday through Friday

Currently CLOSED to New Clients; Waitlist Only

Sees ages 18 and up

Every person is entitled to a feeling of acceptance and every person deserves to feel comfortable and confident in their skin. It is my belief that becoming comfortable with yourself is an essential process in order to interact comfortably and confidently within the world. Throughout counseling, I work with clients to develop an understanding and acceptance of themselves and accomplish their treatment goals using a blended approach of person-centered, Adlerian, cognitive-behavioral, and motivational.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health (LPCMH) and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in the state of Delaware. I have also obtained certification as a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP).  I am passionate in my work with individuals who are oftentimes stigmatized by their criminal background, substance use, mental health diagnosis, or sexuality. I specialize in reintegration into society post-incarceration, recovery from substance use/dependence, mental wellness, mental illness, and LGBTQ+ issues. I welcome clients who may consider themselves to be different or do not conform to what society has deemed as "normal." I have personally chosen self-expression in the form of tattoos, piercings, and occasionally, brightly colored hair. I do not believe that a person's abilities, achievements, or potential can be determined by their outward appearance and I carry that philosophy through in my practice. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wesley College and my Master of Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore.

I am currently working toward obtaining certification with the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH), as of September 2021.
